Three suggestions to wander around the lake
Lake Como is a territory all to be discovered: across the hill landscape of Brianza, cross the wild valleys of Valsassina in Lake Como Mountains, reach the peaks of the mountains. We suggest you three itineraries to inspire you for exploring in a slow way the nature around Lake Como.
Cycling Route in Valsassina
This trail is ideal for the entire family. A blissful cycle on a safe, specially designed route, it allows travellers to admire the mountains of Valsassina and discover some of the most beautiful corners along River Pioverna. The route starts from Barzio, nearby the seat of the “Comunità Montana”, and it runs along River Pioverna until the town of Taceno for 13 Km overall.
The Lakes of Garlate and Olginate
A ring route ideal for the entire family, surrounded by the peaks of Monte Resegone, Monte Barro, the mountains of Valle San Martino and the Monte di Brianza. A fascinating combination between the nature of the River Adda valley and the history and culture of the surrounding villages. The route starts in Lecco, nearby the Azzoni Visconti Bridge, entering the cycle and pedestrian lane in Pescate and cycling along the lakes of Garlate and Olginate. Once there it is possible to cross River Adda, over a recently requalified pedestrian and bicycle bridge, to reach Calolziocorte and from there to return back to Lecco, after passing the town of Vercurago, for a journey of almost 20 km overall.
Adda North Park
For the cyclists who, as an alternative to the previous path, decide to continue beyond Olginate, instead of crossing the bridge over River Adda to Calolziocorte, the itinerary develops for several Km along the western side of River Adda. A trail which does not require particular physical fitness, but it’s nonetheless highly enjoyable due to the possibility of admiring magnificent views of the surrounding landscapes and majestic works of engineering and industrial archaeology. From Olginate the route goes along an unpaved road far away from traffic, crossing the towns of Brivio, Imbersago and Paderno d’Adda, with its majestic iron bridge, to end up at the border with the province of Monza e Brianza, for almost a 30 Km round trip journey overall.
