Villa Gaia Gandini
Villa Gaia is one of the oldest buildings on the Navigli and was one of the first villas in Lombardy.
Villa Gaia, given this name in the second half of the 15th entry for the joyous parties that were held there, is one of the oldest buildings on the Navigli and was one of the first villas in Lombardy, a place with a very interesting past.
Part of the building actually comes from an earlier period, as suggested by the traces of ogival windows found under the plaster, but it was Count Vitaliano Borromeo that made it truly majestic.
The property was later inherited by nobleman Filippo Borromeo, son of the late Count Vitaliano and husband of Francesca Visconti, and later his children.
It was in this period (October 1481, according to some documents) that Bona of Savoy, widow of Duke Galeazzo Maria Sforza and practically imprisoned in the castle of Abbiategrasso by Ludovico il Moro, came to Robecco with her ladies and courtiers as a guest of Giovanni Borromeo.
It was owned by the Biglia family, patrons of Andrea Appiani, and then the Confalonieri, including famous conspirator Federico.
In the second half of the 19th century it was sold to the Decio-Gabrini and later the Gandini.
It is currently private property and is hired out for conferences, weddings and events.
