The bridle path to Erbonne
Starting in the heart of the Val d’Intelvi in the town of La Bolla, this relaxing path, which is entirely flat and takes about 90 minutes, goes from Casasco d’Intelvi, crossing a bridle path and opening out into a stunning view of Lago di Como and Monte San Zeno, before leading to the charming village of Erbonne, part of the Municipality of San Fedele di Intelvi.
With a history going back millennia, this small village in the heart of the Comasche Prealps, with its 52 buildings (including farmsteads, ruins and other structures used for housing animals) and currently inhabited by fewer than 15 people, seems to have been stopped in time.
The story of the village, which has been inhabited since Pre-Roman times, has always been closely linked to that of the nearby Swiss village of Scudellate, which it is linked to via a cycle- and footpath that can be covered in around 20 minutes.
Along with the Smuggling Museum, located in the old office of the Guardia di Finanza (Italy’s border and customs police) which was renovated in 2002 and today can be visited upon request from San Fedele Town Hall, the village has a famous Cave (the Buco della Volpe) measuring 130 m in length.
