Villa Tassis
Located in Comonte, a district of Seriate, in the province of Bergamo, Villa Tassis Cerioli is an historic building dating back to the 17th century, when it was built by the noble Tasso family from Bergamo.
Over the centuries, the villa has been subject to different renovation works, including the significant restoration in the 18th century which gave it its current appearance.
In 1858, the villa was inherited by Costanza Cerioli, a religious woman who founded the Institute of Sisters of the Holy Family, a women's religious order working in the field of education and social work, the emblem of which encapsulates the history of the building and its owners. Today the villa is still the headquarters of the Institute of Sisters of the Holy Family, as well as of a school.
The interior of the villa is an authentic museum, with frescos, paintings and fine decorations. These include a trompe-l'œil by Vincenzo Bonomini in the reception room, depicting a rural scene; tempera wall paintings of Luigi Deleidi in the rectangular room on the main floor, and draped frescoes depicting fauns and minotaurs with musical instruments in the room belonging to Carlo, the second child of the Cerioli family.
