Bergamo, a hidden treasure
Come and visit the city of Bergamo, one of the jewels of the Lombardia Region, you can easily get to from Milan by train, it takes only one hour and there are frequent connections. Chance to organize a private transfer for groups or individuals.
A World Heritage Site, a visit is well worth here. Starting from the funicular station, we reach the Upper town, with its narrow streets, as well as its ancient buildings, its many churches and its amazing views on the Lombard plain. First we climb up to the Rocca, the old fortress, where you can enjoy a unique panorama of the surrounding region, then we head to the Piazza Vecchia with its unique blend of styles, from the ancient Romanesque of the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, to the Gothic of the Baptistery, the Renaissance of the Colleoni Chapel, and last but not least the majestic Neoclassical façade of the Duomo, i.e. the Cathedral. You may love to climb up to the top of the Campanone, and enjoy the great view. Our tour continues till the Cittadella Square, for a step back in time, but before coming to an end, we must stop and taste the POLENTA E OSEI, the traditional cake of Bergamo.
