Palazzo del Podestà
The Museo delle storie di Bergamo invites visitors under the shadow of the Campanone in Piazza Vecchia, where Palazzo del Podestà tells the story of distant origins.
On the ground floor, visitors are immersed in Roman Bergamo with archaeological digs, to then move up to the first floor to admire the marvellous frescoes of the Renaissance light well.
This is the location of the Museo del Cinquecento, with an incredible multimedia and interactive display made up of images, sound and creativity. Visitors are invited to travel through time, with eminent buildings and ancient convents, to discover the history of noble families, battling for power, ambitious merchants in search of fortune, and of warlords working for the Republic of Venezia.
Surrounded by Sixteenth century life, visitors can see how the walls were built, a permanent sign of Venetian domination, now a World Heritage Site.
