San Giacomo Church

The Church was built in the 12th Century exactly where, in the past, there was a Middle Age House for the pilgrims who were reaching Santiago de Santiago de Compostela.  In the second half of the 14th Century the Augustinians built the original bell-tower which has an octagonal layout. Then, in 1428, when the Dominican arrived, it was built the monastery which was originally made up with two cloisters. The internal part is divided in three naves and organized on three floors. You can climb a marble staircase and reach the upper altar. Under the altar there is the Crypt Santa Corona which originally hosted the portion of Jesus’ Holy Thorn which is now in the Parish Church.
The windows representing the Annunciation made by Ambrogino da Tormoli (located in the apse) are among the main artworks of this building.
