A new life for Stradivari’s house
Nestled in the heart of Cremona, a city world-renowned for its master violin makers, lies Casa Stradivari, the ancient home of Antonio Stradivari, the most famous violin maker in history. It is here that Antonio Stradivari crafted numerous musical instruments, masterpieces of refined craftsmanship and superb acoustics.
Since 1667, when Stradivari married Francesca Ferraboschi and moved into this house, it has been at the center of Cremona's violin making tradition, a testament to an invaluable cultural legacy. The art of Cremonese violin making has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, underscoring the global significance of this craft and Casa Stradivari's contribution to it.
As well as its role as a popular attraction, Casa Stradivari also hosts a violin making masterclass, music masterclasses and an artistic residency and represents a cultural crossroad for the community.
