Oasis Lipu Bosco Negri
Oriented Nature Reserve, within the Lombard Regional Park of the Ticino Valley in Pavia.
The Bosco Negri Oasis was privately owned since the late 19th century. In 1968, it was bequeathed to the Municipality of Pavia by Giuseppe Negri, a Pavia citizen and passionate nature lover. Following severe damage caused by a violent storm in 1988, it was entrusted to Lipu, which transformed it into a fully equipped nature reserve through an agreement with the Municipality of Pavia.
The Bosco Negri Oasis is an excellent example of the lush vegetation that once covered much of the Po Valley before the land reclamation works carried out by the Romans in 89 B.C. For many animals, an area like Bosco Negri serves as an ideal refuge, situated between vast agricultural fields and the urban outskirts.
The Oasis features a recently renovated Visitor Center to welcome guests, with an information point, a picnic area equipped with a gazebo, benches, and wooden tables (note: to use the picnic area, it is recommended to check availability by phone), a small museum showcasing animal tracks, and educational panels.
The 200-meter dirt road leading to the Oasis is closed to cars, as it is already within the Ticino Park. Visitors must leave their vehicles in the parking lot at the beginning of the dirt road, in the nearby parking area on Via Bramante (about 500 meters away), or in Pavia at Piazzale Parco Vul, approximately 3 kilometers from the Oasis. Additionally, dogs are not allowed inside, even if on a leash.
Opening hours
The Oasis is open from March to June and from September to November, on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM with free entry.
On weekdays, the Oasis is open by reservation for school groups and organized groups.
