Pavia is a crossroads of historical, religious, and cultural routes of great significance, some of which are recognized by the Council of Europe, identifying it as the Crossroads of Europe.

In 2025, the Municipality of Pavia is promoting slow and sustainable tourism, offering citizens and visitors the opportunity to participate in walks that will allow them to explore the history and natural beauty of the religious-cultural itineraries that cross the territory.

Along the way, participants will be able to admire monuments, churches, and picturesque views, discovering the peculiarities of the region.

At the end of the walks, it will be possible to taste typical local products, for an experience that combines culture, nature, and gastronomy.

SUNDAY, APRIL 6, 2025 - 9:30 AM

Distance: 6 km The Via degli Abati Historically traveled by the Abbots of San Colombano, founder of the monastery of Bobbio, the path starts from Pavia, crosses the Po River, and continues towards Bobbio until Pontremoli.

SUNDAY, MAY 4, 2025 - 9:30 AM

Distance: 6 km The Camino of Saint Augustine A 770 km pilgrimage route that starts in Monza and ends in Pavia. Its rose-shaped path connects fifty Marian Sanctuaries in Lombardy and touches three significant locations for Saint Augustine: Cassago Brianza (his conversion), Milan (baptism), and Pavia (relics). Although born and deceased in Africa, Saint Augustine left significant historical traces in these Lombard locations.

SUNDAY, JUNE 8, 2025 - 9:00 AM

Distance: 8 km Via Columbani The Via Columbani is inspired by the journey undertaken by the Saint in his evangelization work. It starts in Bangor, Northern Ireland, and ends in Bobbio, at the famous Abbey of San Colombano, passing through France and Germany. The Pavia section of the route intersects with other famous paths such as the Via degli Abati and the Via Francigena.

SUNDAY, JULY 6, 2025 - 9:00 AM

Distance: 6 km Via Micaelica Since the 7th century, the cult of Saint Michael spread rapidly across Europe, leading to the construction of numerous churches and sanctuaries. These sites became famous for miraculous events that attracted thousands of devoted pilgrims. This led to the formation of an itinerary that now includes about one hundred stops.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2025 - 9:00 AM

Distance: 9.3 km The Path of the Celts and Ligurians This route explores well-known territories from a new perspective. Some sources attribute the foundation of Milan to the Insubrian Celts, who are said to have traced a magical circle north of the Duomo. From there, the journey begins, crossing the plains and the Po River towards Mount Penna, dedicated to the Ligurian god Pen, from which the name Apennines is thought to derive, before ending in Sestri Levante.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2025 - 9:00 AM

Distance: 12 km The Via Francigena Sigeric, after being appointed archbishop by the Pope, documented the stages of his return journey from Rome to Canterbury. These notes were crucial in reconstructing the Via Francigena route. It stretches throughout the province of Pavia, from Palestro to Chignolo Po, covering 126.7 km.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2025 - 9:00 AM

Distance: 6 km Via Sancti Martini This itinerary connects the sites associated with Saint Martin of Tours, a symbol of sharing. The route starts in Hungary and crosses ten European countries. In Pavia, the Church of the Santissimo Salvatore houses a fresco cycle dedicated to Saint Martin.

The walks aim to allow participants to discover the main monuments encountered along the way.

Spots are limited.

Participation is free with mandatory reservation.

For organizational reasons, participation will only be guaranteed to those who receive a confirmation email from the organizers, Progetti Società Cooperativa.
