Yellow t-shirts featuring his portrait sold like hot cakes, the concert was sold out and the musical events were packed.  Everyone is crazy about Gaetano: last year, “Donizetti Night” saw over 20,000 people flock to upper Bergamo and the next edition promises to be another Woodstock for the opera world.

Volunteers from the Donizetti Foundation will be working hard to oversee proceedings at Piazza Vecchia and at the twenty or so other locations where special events are set to take place until the early hours.
