Bosco delle Querce Park

Created by the hand of man, this park offers naturalistic and recreational areas

The Bosco delle Querce Park of Seveso and Meda is situated in the upper diluvial plain, about 210 metres above sea level, at the edge between the hilly area of the morainic arcs in the north and the terraced plateaus of the river-glacial deposits deriving from the erosion of the morainic deposits in the south.

The park is divided into 5 different areas defined by a vocational study, classified as landscaped areas (5 hectares), natural areas (16.5 hectares), intensive recreational areas (7.2 hectares), extensive recreational areas (8 hectares) and protected areas (6 hectares ), for a total of 42.7 hectares. The Bosco delle Querce Park of Seveso and Meda was entirely man-made with the aim of creating a forest with characteristics similar to those of the original forests nearby, mainly consisting of English oak, Scots pine, birch, hornbeam, black alder and white willow.

The most common area consists of grass and trees, alternated by shrubbery, distributed mainly on the hills of Seveso and Meda . This environment is also inhabited by spontaneous woodlands, characterised by rich undergrowth (an area of natural interest with restricted access). The artificial origin of the Bosco delle Querce and its isolation from the surrounding area has made it difficult for animals (that are not as mobile as birds) to reach the area. In particular, the presence of linear infrastructures that have had such a major impact on the area, like the Milan -Meda highway, interrupt the environmental continuity and severely hinder the mobility of wildlife.
