Sanctuary of Madonna del Campo - Mortara
The church, which already existed in 1100, offers painting testimonies of different times including even a Mercy and two statues that represent San Domenico and San Giovanni Battista attributed to Giovan Battista Crespi called Il Cerano, a Lombard painter of XVII century, who worked as well for the basilica of San Pietro. The Madonna del Campo is only one of the examples of the treasures that the local areas have preserved and that “institutions” as the Via Francigena have the merit of bringing to the attention of a wider audience.
