Abbey of Saint Albino (VIII century) on the Via Francigena
The city of Mortara is renowned for its many churches and basilicas, amongst which the Abbey of Saint Albino (VIII century) on the Via Francigena stands out for its historical importance.Nowadays only the Abbey church with its fifteenthcentury frescoes and the elegantRenaissance portico, the Romanesque-Gothic belltower and part of the cloister with a brick loggia and wooden architraves remain. There are also some rural buildings thatwere once part of the Abbey, but they have fallen into ruin.
