Boldini, De Nittis, Zandomeneghi. The 19th Century Salon
Discover exhibitions and events in Varese and its province
If you're an art enthusiast or simply looking for unique cultural events in Varese and its surroundings, don't miss the extraordinary exhibition taking place in Barasso, a small village located a few kilometers from the center of Varese. From October 13 to November 3, Villa S. Martino will open its doors to host the event "Boldini, De Nittis, Zandomeneghi. The 19th Century Salon", an exhibition that celebrates some of the greatest figures of 19th-century Italian figurative art.
Curated by the Municipality of Barasso and the Barasso in Arte Committee, the exhibition brings to the public masterpieces by three great masters of the 19th century, set in the intimate and refined atmosphere of the Belle Époque.
The works of Boldini, De Nittis, and Zandomeneghi take us on a journey through the social and cultural life of the 19th century. These 19th-century masters, known for their portraits and scenes of daily life, offer us a window into the society of the time, exploring themes such as the female figure, fashion, social and architectural changes tied to industrialization, and the advent of photography.
What makes this exhibition even more special is the venue: Villa S. Martino, a historic residence of cultural and architectural interest. The aim is to recreate the typical atmosphere of 19th-century salons, where artworks were displayed in the homes of the era's most important patrons. This intimate and refined setting allows you to experience art in a different way, away from traditional museum environments, immersing yourself in a more personal and engaging dimension.
NOT JUST AN EXHIBITION: SIDE EVENTS
Alongside the exhibition, various events will further enrich the cultural experience. Workshops, guided tours, and conferences on topics related to art history and 19th-century society will allow you to deepen your understanding of the exhibition's themes and discover interesting facts about the featured artists.
