Since 2005, the villa and the garden have been owned by the Municipality of San Giovanni in Croce and in 2014 they were opened again.

The Certosa di Pavia, a monastery built by Gian Galeazzo Visconti as a family chapel, is connected to the castle by the Visconteo Park.

Known as “Il Castello” for the two towers that characterise the only remaining wing.
