San Biagio Island
San Biagio Island, also known as “Isola dei Conigli” [Rabbit Island] is an absolute gem with a real Caribbean feel. What makes the island unique is its rabbit population, even if these are rarely seen now, and the possibility to reach it on foot, thanks to the drop in water levels in the summer.
In other seasons, the island is reached by boat, even as part of a tour on Lake Garda (remember that there is an entry fee). At the centre of the island is a 17th-century villa, surrounded by Camping San Biagio as well as by green lawns and cypress trees. Relax with a swim in the crystal-clear waters, or sunbathe on the shores, maybe with a gelato from the kiosk. If you want to enjoy a more thrilling experience, you could trydiving from Scoglio dell’Altare, a rock immersed by some 150 metres and home to the perch, pikes, eels, bleak and in July, even sardines. The island is open to tourists from 1st May to 15th September.
