Lago di Annone
The largest basin of the Brianza lakes, a few kilometres from Lecco
In the northern part of Brianza, south-west of Lecco, at the entrance to Val Magrera.
This is Lago di Annone, the largest of the Brianza lakes. The towns overlooking this lake are Oggiono, Galbiate, Civate, Suello and Annone di Brianza.
Lago di Annone is made up of two basins connected by a narrow channel. It is completely surrounded by hills and mountains. The highest and most important are Monte Cornizzolo and Monte Barro.
The vegetation surrounding Lago di Annone and its fauna are typical of lake environments in the piedmont moraine areas.
The perimeter of Lago di Annone can be completely enjoyed on foot or, even better, by bicycle, preferably using mountain bikes. Different sports can be enjoyed on the lake, for example kayaking or canoeing, paddling surrounded by tranquillity.
The views are splendid on this lake (the twenty-first largest in Italy) which has a long history: it is thought that a Roman bridge once united the two peninsulas giving it its characteristic shape.
