Pizzighettone
One of the most interesting walled cities of the Lombardy region, divided by the Adda river.
The sixteenth-century city wall surrounding the entire historical center, on both sides of the Adda river.
The Casematte are rooms with vaulted ceilings inside the walls, all connected together (unique in Europe). The Parish church of S. Bassiano, the oldest church of the village with paintings by Bernardino Campi and three fourteenth-century marble panels.
The Civic Museum that ranges from Prehistory to the Modern Age. The tower of the Guado, with a square plan, the only complete testimony of the ancient castle, which hosted, in 1525, Francis I of Valois, King of France.
An excursion to discover the surrounding area, on foot, by bike along the cycle paths, maybe using the bike sharing service or a cruise on the Adda river.
To the Fasulin de l'oc (green bean) is dedicated, between October and November, an important gastronomic marathon in the Casematte.
