Theatre and music: online events
Spettacoli da seguire dal divano di casa
The show must go on, as Queen once sang. The show doesn't end, even when you have to stay at home.
Our behaviour may have changed, but entertainment and beauty are needed in our everyday home lives now more than ever. Music and theatre are keeping pace and continuing to excite and entertain, by moving online. Find out more about some great events that provide a few hours of light relief through stories, lyrics and music.
ATIR on air performances - Teatro Ringhiera
When the weekend rolls around, it's easy to miss a pleasant evening at the theatre. But all it takes is a sofa and a pinch of imagination to recreate that magic, thanks to the ATIR ON AIR initiative, staged by ATIR Teatro Ringhiera (Milan): every weekend you can choose a theatre show to watch streamed in full on the ATIR Youtube channel. The programme is chosen by the users themselves, through polls posted weekly on the theatre's Facebook page. Little ones can also enjoy hearing fairy tales read aloud.
The Teatro Franco Parenti is coming to your home
The collection of resources made available by Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan, from its own archives, is called #CasaParenti: you will find fascinating documentaries, backstage footage, full-length shows, interviews and master classes. The resources are also available on the theatre's social media pages on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube. Franco Parenti has also launched the #ilbelcontagio project, aimed at sending poetry, theatre and art viral through short videos featuring artists talking about artworks and ideas to get others involved. Of course, everyone is welcome to take part.
Infectious tales for children from the Pandemonium Teatro
Inspired by Gianni Rodari the #STORIECONTAGIOSEALTELEFONO (infectious tales over the telephone) from the Pandemonium Teatro chase the gloom away and bring us closer together. These "live audio sessions" last for 15/20 minutes and are suitable for children from 4 to 10 years old, preferably accompanied by a parent.
Great classics from your armchair, from three Milan theatres
Timeless classics, which can also be enjoyed from the comfort of your armchair: these performances are presented by the Elfo Puccini theatre, while awaiting reopening. It's one way to relive exciting original plays and one man shows that have graced the stage over the years. The Piccolo Teatro is also providing additional information and videos as part of the #PiccoloatHome programme (with events regularly updated on Facebook). A wide selection of events and live streams are also available on the No'hma website, which has launched the #iorestoacasaconNo'hma initiative. Our only advice: make yourself comfortable and dim the lights.
Music: performances to listen to at home
Remarkable initiatives, bringing beautiful music into your home. Some examples? #iosuonodacasa is the now famous hashtag that signals a packed calendar of concerts via social media. Equally varied is the KeepOn Live program, which combines talk and live streaming to suit any taste. For opera lovers, OperaVision has made full length content and behind-the-scenes footage available. And to feel even closer together, why not join a shared playlist? The Teatro Sociale di Como has created one, entitled #Dallamiafinestra (from my window): everyone can add their favourite titles to spread a little happiness. Lastly, the Fondazione Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo has created a syllabary, or spelling book, featuring twenty-one short films about the life, career and passions of the famous composer, as part of the "Bergamo: terra di Donizetti" project.
