Sarnico (BG)

Overlooking rivers and lakes and framed by mountains, Lombardy offers many charming locations to rediscover the historical and cultural gems set in the landscape.

 

The villages, above all, are perfect destinations for a day trip that are all about immersion in local history and traditions. Exploring the landscape becomes an experience in company, to be concluded with an aperitif at sunset, to fully experience the panoramas of the region. 

From the mysterious charm of the Pyramids of the Curone Valley in Montevecchia, to the scenic waterfalls of Nesso, just a few kilometres from Como, to the views that inspired Leonardo Da Vinci on the Adda River, each place has its own history that makes it a treasure just waiting to be discovered. Montevecchia (LC)
Montevecchia is a charming village between Milan, Brianza and the Pre-Alps of Lecco. Located at an altitude of almost 500 metres, overlooking the almost 3,000 hectares of the Montevecchia and Curone Valley Regional Park, where the famous Pyramids, mysterious rock formations, emerge.

Limone sul Garda (BS)
Limone sul Garda is the northernmost municipality on the Lombard shore of Lake Garda and owes its name to the lemons that have been grown there since 1700. There are numerous lemon groves still active and open for visits in the area.

Nesso is a jewel of Celtic origin overlooking Lake Como, rising where the Tuf and Nosée rivers meet to forming a wonderful waterfall, the Orrido di Nesso. Around it is the historic centre, divided by the Ponte della Civera, which is Roman in origin.

Sarno, on the south-western shore of Lake Iseo, is a historically stratified village where medieval palaces and towers meet twentieth-century Art Nouveau villas . Once surrounded by walls, the oldest section has been retained, in an elevated position, framing the Church of St Paul.

Vaprio D'Adda offers a scenic aperitif surrounded by natural landscapes with pictorial views. Just over 30 km from Milan, you come to the Adda river, crossed by the Naviglio della Martesana, the artificial canal that runs for 38 km from Trezzo sull'Adda to Milan.
