Montecampione

The beating heart of the lower Vallecamonica, a panoramic terrace overlooking Lake Iseo.

The Montecampione Ski Area, situated between the towns of Artogne and Pian Camuno, is one of the most renowned ski resorts in the Alps, also by virtue of its strategic location, which makes it easy to access from major cities such as Milan, Brescia, Bergamo and Verona.

Although this ski resort is not historic (it has only been in business since the 1970s), the 200,000 visitors that flock here each year attest to its popularity. The Montecampione area has over 30 km of slopes for alpine skiing (4 black trails, 12 red and 4 blue in addition to slopes for beginners and children) that stretch up to an altitude of 2,000 metres.

The 11 lifts are all interconnected and depart from the residential areas of Montecampione (at 1,200 metres), allowing visitors to leave their cars behind. The ski area's slopes can also be accessed from Prato Secondino at an altitude of 1400 metres and from Plan at 1,800 metres, where snowmobile trails can also be found. Most of the slopes are equipped with an efficient and computerized snow-making system.

In addition to skiing, Montecampione offers plenty of things to do: snowshoeing, ice skating, indoor swimming, restaurants, shops, cinemas, various events and festivals.

In addition to hotels and residences, the area is equipped with sports facilities and places to relax after a day of on the slopes. A few miles away there are several points of interest such as the thermal baths of Darfo Boario, the beautiful shores of Lake Iseo and the National Park of Rock Drawings of Capo di Ponte, which preserves drawings dating back to the Neolithic period and the Iron Age.
