Altopiano of Selvino and Aviatico

Altopiano di Selvino e Aviatico
Selvino (BG)

At a thousand metres, its fame comes from the marvellous natural landscape, traditional hospitality, efficient services and modern sports facilities.

Only 20 km from Bergamo, and 60 from Milano, the Altopiano (High Plain) is easily reached by visitors. But the Altopiano can also count on connections with the valley, in just 8 minutes, thanks to a panoramic cable car: this is the way to begin a holiday in style!

Unforgettable holidays at Altopiano, famous for its events, shows and initiatives, all of the highest quality. Culture, music, sports, shows, entertainment: there is something for everyone. And then there is “fun,” the key word in the summer, when the entertainment staff gets into action!

There are a number of events, episodes and people who have created the history and culture of our community. In arts, the great painter Enea Gherardi, known as “Talpino” or as “Raffaello Bergamasco” a child of this land, through to the story of the Garibaldian hero, Daniele Piccinini (who had his home here).

Also a part of our culture is also the hope that Sciesopoli was able to give back to a thousand Jewish orphans, who had survived the extermination camps, and has now become the Museo Memoriale MuMeSE, located inside the city hall.

The churches and sanctuaries of the Altopiano share the essence of an area full of spirituality and love for art. The parish churches, filled with the works of excellent artists, like the Medieval chapels, are an incomparable addition to one of the oldest sanctuaries in the Bergamo province, Madonna del Perello.
