Village of santa maria della versa
A sparkling village will welcome you with the excellent of its food and wine and its architectural beauties
Santa Maria della Versa is located in the province of Pavia, on the hill of Oltrepò Pavese.
At the bottom of the valley, next to a chapel dedicated to Our Lady, a town was built to host markets and fairs, while Soriasco was an important fortified village with a twelve-tower castle (with a single square tower that continues to stand today).
Santa Maria della Versa is a village nestled in a valley embraced by rolling hills planted with vineyards of Pinot. This village is actually the "capital of sparkling wine". In fact, it is home to a major wine producer that, for over a century, has transformed the "Pinot Nero" variety into a lively, sparkling wine with a dry, fresh and superb flavour. The area is also known for its spirits. Right next to the facility, the distillery transforms wine marc into a high quality grappa. The entire territory, referred to as Valle Versa, is a great stopping point for an unforgettable gourmet journey on a discovery of the art of making cheeses, cured meats, sweets and even biscuits.
