The Bee Museum
In Montalto Pavese, we discover the secrets of the beekeeper's craft
In the ancient Palazzo Cristina, the Bee Museum has been set up, dedicated to two local beekeepers, Zelindo Martii and Carlo Perotti, the creators of the original collection. In the museum's rooms, visitors can explore the evolution of beekeeping techniques throughout the twentieth century through a specific educational path about the world of bees, as well as an exhibition of the equipment and clothing used by beekeepers.
The museum documents the equipment from the early phase, crafted with ingenuity and drawing on the experience of past generations, as well as the transition to more rational and modern practices. However, the primary goal of the museum's creators was to introduce, in general and educational terms, the world of bees and the essential pollination activity that is key to the persistence of biodiversity in every territory. The museum also highlights the main products of beekeeping: honey, pollen, royal jelly, wax, and propolis.
