Teatro Nuovo
A few steps from the Duomo, a theater that captures the most important innovations in the panorama of national and international shows.
Teatro Nuovo, meaning the New Theater, is located in the heart of Milan, in Piazza San Babila: an exceptional location for an important theater that has evolved over time together with Milan.
Its foundation dates back to 1938 when an illustrious man, Remigio Paone , who also happened to be the personal friend of the great Pirandello, was called on to manage the theater.
Teatro Nuovo has always strived to satisfy the taste of its audiences, an approach that has brought new shows to its marquis, even of national and international renown.
Major artists such as Eduardo, Totò and Peppina De Filippo, Totò, Macario, Tognazzi, Sordi, Chiari, Riva and international stars such as Louis Armstrong and Yves Montand have appeared on its stage.
After the death of Paone in 1977, the theater was directed by a Milanese entrepreneur passionate about theater, Franco Ghizzo, and later by Lorenzo Vitali, a friend of the Ghizzo family.
Today, Teatro Nuovo places a special focus on musicals and great plays. For many years it has also hosted the Grand Gala of Advertising, the Mediakey prize and the fashion shows of great designers such as Yves Saint -Laurent and Armani.
