ArtLine
An open-air collection spread through one of the most modern districts of Milan, CityLife
Milan is full of surprises, even when it decides to bring together more than 20 works in a single place, completely free of charge, and open to everyone. So, in 2016 ArtLine was born, a collection of open-air artworks inside the public park at CityLife.
The particular feature is that the works are organically integrated into the space of this new district. The most photographed work is perhaps Coloris, a group of posts, between 6 and 12 metres, with an egg at the top, with which Pascale Marthine Tayou has introduced an explosion of colour. Then there is the curious Daily Desiderio by Riccardo Benassi, which almost blends in with the advertising panels dotted around the city: it is an LED which has a different message every day, transmitted by the artist remotely for as long as he lives. So much dialogue with the surroundings, with reflections on the use of materials, on the dialogue between people and architecture or present and past, like Hand and Foot for Milano by Judith Hopf, Beso by Wilfredo Prieto, Rudere by Adrian Paci, or New Times for Other Ideas / New Ideas for Other Times by Maurizio Nannucci. The more curious are the widespread, almost hidden works, like Vedovelle and Draghi Verdi by Serena Vestrucci, who has replaced the classic spouts on the water fountains around the park with a unique piece for each, or the stars of Matteo Rubbi, as well as 100 stone stars, spread over the paving in Piazza Burri. What will your favourite be?
