Montevecchia
A balcony over Upper Lombardy, from which to admire a romantic sunset
Montevecchia is a charming village between Milan, Brianza and the Pre-Alps of Lecco. Located at an altitude of almost 500 metres, overlooking the almost 3,000 hectares of the Montevecchia and Curone Valley Regional Park, where the famous Pyramids, mysterious rock formations, emerge.
There is a marvellous view to be enjoyed from the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel, which, with its 180 steps, dominates the valley and from where, it is possible to see the peaks of Monte Rosa on a clear day.
However, every corner of Montevecchia retains its own distinctive beauty and, if exercise is not your choice, you can relax in agritourisms and small restaurants, where you can sample local delicacies such as the furmagett de Muntavegia (or furmagett de faciröla), typical fresh and mature cheeses made from cow's and goat's milk, and Pincianell, a red wine from Alta Brianza. Montevecchia is in fact famous for its vineyards and offers memorable sunsets to add poetry and romance to accompany aperitifs.
You can reach the village easily by car, parking just outside the entrance in the car parks marked on the maps, or you can take the train to Cernusco Lombardone and then continue by bus C46 and C47. You won’t regret it!
