Walking among the pines
Bosco del Chignolo, a wood inside the Valle del Lambro Regional Park, is a refuge where you can stroll through the woods and the pines, as you explore nature in close contact.
The Bosco del Chignolo is located between the Brianza municipalities of Triuggio and Tregasio. Its name comes from its particular triangular shape (Chignolo) with the tip facing northwards, like a chock, a mechanical instrument used to raise of move items and which, in the dialect of Brianza is known as a chignoeu. The story of this place, with its enchanting natural charm, is linked to the local paper-making industry, and the use of eastern white pine, growing in the woods as a raw material.
With the passage of time and more intensive use of the pines, there was a risk of all of the trees dying out and therefore, the local council intervened to preserve the area. Today, Bosco del Chignolo contains many tree species and is a crossroads for the walkers and cyclists who use its trails.
A meeting place, for immersion in nature and a refuge from the hustle of everyday life in the city, where you can lose yourself among the large trees that grow here. What makes this place even more magical is the local legend that tells of a valiant knight, a maiden able to charm the woodland animals with her dancing, and other magical creatures.
