Museo Diocesano
An amazing place of Art and Faith!
The opening of the Diocesan Museum, located in the 18th Century Bishop Palace, is part of a wider cultural project promoted by Cremona’s Diocese. Together with the Cathedral (dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta) the Torrazzo Vertical Museum and the Baptistery, the Diocesan Museum represents an important part of the history, art and faith of Cremona.
The museum’s collections are not displayed in chronological order but according to some thematic criteria: the Diocese and its origins; the Incarnation and the mystery of the Holy Lady; the Cross, our salvation; the (universal and local) saints: the representatives of the Church’s mission and ministry; the collection "Giovanni Arvedi and Luciana Buschini"; the St. Agata altarpiece; the Visconti-Sforza Age and the "treasure of Pizzighettone".
In the museum there are more than 100 artworks which come from different parishes and which offer the visitor the possibility to discover a wonderful artistic heritage. The Museum’s collection is also enriched by more or less 25 artworks which belong to the Foundation Arvedi Buschini.
Art, Faith, neoclassic and contemporary Architecture share their values in Cremona’s Diocesan Museum and they contribute to offer a unique experience.
