Wine and Flavor Tra il Garda

Take the Wine and Flavor Trail of Garda along Limone, then go to Desenzano and Peschiera, into the lake's lombard shores.

We are talking about an area that is famous for its winemaking, boasting reserves such as Garda ClassicoSan Martino della Battaglia and Lugana, every single wine of this category is awarded with the DOC label. Mild, windy lake weather is the main source of their outstanding characteristics.

Try local products such as the Formagella of Tremosine, and Valtenesi, Brescian Soppressata and other outstanding cold cuts that will be the heart of any aperitif. Then there is the Garda DOP Extra Virgin Olive Oil, traditionally made around these shores.

What about its cooking? Lakewater fish is undoubtedly one of the main ingredients of the zone recipes. Try the deep fried alosa, grilled eel and  chub soup when engaging in culinary tourism at Lake Garda.

Enjoy a sojourn in this territory with its food and wine itineraries in which you can find lots of curious attractions like green hills and the lakeshore along the way.

Do not miss important landmarks such as the Vittoriale degli Italiani, Gabriele d'Annunzio's house-museum. This venue measures about 9 acres and shows visitors how the poet used to live. Then there is Gardone Riviera, not very far from Salò, another historical city with interesting landmarks like Palazzo della Magnifica Patria and its Cathedral.

Go southward in order to enjoy a perfect mix of art and nature at the Manerba Fortress and its Archaeological National Park. There is a comfortable shore with long beaches in Manerba for those who wish to take a bath or rest under the sun while admiring the landscape.

Consider visiting the Castle of Soiano, the remains of a dwelling village near the lagoons of Sovenigo and the Romanic church of San Pietro Lucone at Polpenazze, encircled by acres of local vineyards.

Autumn is one of the best moments of the year to explore this part of Lombardy, since it hosts numerous events and demonstrations with the opening of wine cellars to the public, in order to allow enthusiasts and connoisseurs to enjoy both wines and delicacies like cheeses, olives and freshwater fish.
