Varese itinerary
Take a walk in the "Garden City" and climb slowly up to the sacred mountain that is Unesco heritage
Parks and villas set the stage at the Sacro Monte of Varese, where art and faith come together in the winding path under the protection of UNESCO.
The garden city awaits below, nestled among the hills and lakes, boasting incredible views.
The Sacro Monte of Varese is a must-see destination for every tourist. UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003, the 17th century path and the village of Santa Maria del Monte are major attractions for both the city as well as the region of Lombardy.
14 chapels cutting through the lush greenery, each an extraordinary masterpiece dedicated to the Mysteries of the Rosary, overlook the city and surrounding lakes.
Every chapel boasts its own architecture, curated down to the very last detail, and hides sculptures and paintings inside. Admire the interiors and don't forget to look up at the frescoes on the ceilings. Unfortunately, the barred windows and glass make it difficult to take photos, so we suggest you visit in person.
