From Lodi to Castelnuovo Bocca d'Adda
Lodi is known for being founded by holy Roman Emperor Frederick II in 1158. Do not leave without having visited the Beata Vergine Incoronata Civic Temple, one of Lombardy's Renaissance treasures alongside Palazzo Broletto.
The whole historic center deserves a thorough visit. Even from a culinary standpoint, the city has a lot to offer: did you know that the Granone Lodigiano seems to be the progenitor of all Grana Padano cheeses? If you crave a dessert, try the tortionata, made out of almonds. Add a pleasant cycling ring that goes into the countryside and takes you back to the city and staying in Lodi for a few days becomes a must.
Go along the Adda river and you will arrive to the Adda Morta Regional Reserve, created in the area in which the river branches out into a swampland. At the surroundings of Castelnuovo Bocca d'Adda you can reach the Po river and continue pedaling at its cycling lane in both directions.
