A Roman street

Big slabs in stones with the front part stuck in the ground: these are the bàsoli, the cover of the Roman streets. The part along Solferino Street, discovered in Cremona in 1967 on the occasion of the construction of the Chamber of Commerce seat, contributes to define the map of the ancient Roman town. It was part of the minor cardines and it has even some side-walks and a small fragment of a tube made in lead, part of the plumbing system.
