Seriate, and its charming historic villas

As well as offering visitors monuments and museums, Seriate, in the province of Bergamo, has historic villas that stand as testament to its past.   Seriate’s villas were built over the centuries by noble and middle-class families who would spend their summers there, or even use them as a main residence. The villas feature a wide variety of architectural styles, ranging from Baroque to Neoclassical. One of the most important villas in Seriate is Villa Ambiveri, built in perfect Baroque style by the noble Vertova family in the 17th century. It is surrounded by 1600 square metres of park, full of plants and flowers and today, it is home to the Russia Cristiana Foundation. We also have Villa Piccinelli, an example of Neoclassical architecture with a garden of plants and flowers from all over the world, as well as being the site where the first Italian artificial cement was created in the 1800s. Villa Tassis, which dates back to the 17th century and now the headquarters of the Institute of Sisters of the Holy Family, thanks to Costanza Cerioli, a well-known figure in Bergamo, now St Paola Cerioli. Lastly, Villa Guerrinoni, now the magnificent home to the municipal library.Seriate’s villas are an important cultural and artistic heritage for the town and we hope you can enjoy their beauty to the full, following this dedicated itinerary.
