There are many small villages scattered across the area in diverse environments with interesting natural features and a rich variety of fauna. Among the area's broad leaved and conifer trees alternating with clearings and fields there are many species of fauna. the Salt Route crosses the town area inviting walkers to try out challenging mule track routes through a range of towns.
