Antica Fratta
Essence of Franciacorta
Antica Fratta was born in 1979 from the ambition of Franco Ziliani, one of the most famous influential enologyst that contibuted to the birth of champenoise method in the region, who bought an ancient villa from the Ninteenth Century, one of the most historical in Franciacorta.
The winery that can be found in Monticelli Brusati, in a 20 minutes drive from Brescia, has even more ancient roots, builded at first in 1500 as a manor house for different wealthy families, such as the Nulli followed by the Cagna, as Brusati family was so influential on the region to give the toponym to the municipality of the winery.
Latter in its history, Antica Fratta in 1866 has been restored by creating the one of the most iconic cellars inside the dolomitic limestone of the hill behind the villa, in which still today the Franciacorta wines made are resting on their lees.
The Cellar opens its doors in order to share the synthesis of everything that in a Franciacorta you can find: the secular and geomorphological history of a terroir, and the people, able with their own specific culture to interpret it in the best possible way, and the ambition to always do it with greater respect for all the organisms that inhabit it.
