Rugareto Forest

T he Rugareto forest is a protected area of supra-municipal interest that extends east of the Olona valley to the Tradate pine forest. It has a surface of approximately 1400 hectares and extends over the territory of the municipialities of Cislago, Marnate, Gorla Minore in the province of Varese and Rescaldina in the province of Milan.
The flora, charasteristic of areas near the Lombardy plateaus, consists mainly of locust, Scots pine, oak, hornbeam, chestnut and birch.
The fauna consists mainly of squirrels, woodpeckers, owlets and the owl.
Through the park's forest flow three flows: the Fontanile of Tradate, the Gradeluso (or Bozzentino) and the Bozzente. The Latter is the only one that has a constant flow rate of its own even in periods of low rainfall.
