Campagna Amica, the Sunday markets

In Stradivari Square in Cremona

The market takes place in one of the main squares of the town dedicated to the famous violin-maker from Cremona, Antonio Stradivari, not very far from the Cathedral, the Torrazzo and the violin’s museum.
The proposal – included in the project “The four seasons of Cremona” –  is based on the idea of dedicating every Sunday to the main products of the Lombardy agriculture.
In the market (which includes the Lombardy farms with some “guests” from all over Italy) the producers meet the clients and answer their question reinforcing the connection between the town and the countryside.
Among the most important events:  “Winter on the table”, “ 4 formaggi square”, “the honeymoon”, “Strawberries and cherries”, “The great pumpink’s festival”, “Autumn flavours”, “The gardens in may”, “December, the joy of food”. The products available are: fruit and vegetable, bakery products and bread, pasta and rice, sweets, wine and beer, salami and cheese, flowers and honey, jams.
In the market there is is even a kids’ area where the children can participate to some workshops or build their own farm with small animals and tractors. During the year Campagna Amica cooperates with other associations of the territory: Cremona Marching Band, some choirs, charities and sport clubs.
