Trekking from Brumano to Rifugio Resegone
This fascinating trail, offering breathtaking views, will lead you to the Rifugio Resegone at 1,265 meters.
It is perfect for nature and history lovers, providing a hiking experience you won’t easily forget.
Departure from Brumano
The starting point is the picturesque village of Brumano. You can park your car in the convenient parking lot located near the San Bartolomeo Church, a site of great interest for those passionate about Renaissance art and history.
Founded in 1567 and expanded in 1800, it functions under the Ambrosian Rite despite being in the territory of Bergamo. From the church, head to the left where the trail begins. The first section is paved but soon turns into a dirt path. After about 200 meters, you will notice the slope becomes steeper, making the walk a bit more challenging. Take your time and enjoy the landscape unfolding before you.
First views
Along the trail, you will cross several narrow stretches of asphalt road. Despite the effort, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the greyish rocks of Resegone, peeking through the vegetation, and the high grassy pasture of Costa del Palio. This pasture is known as the natural divide between the Valle Imagna of Bergamo and Lecco. It is worth taking a break here to snap some photos.
Towards Resegone mountain hut
Continuing on the path, you will reach a farmhouse, an excellent spot for a short rest. Once you have caught your breath, follow the CAI trail 13, which leads you through a dense forest.
This section is particularly fascinating, as it is where the first streams of the Imagna River originate. The trail continues for about 1.5 kilometers through steep switchbacks, but your efforts will be rewarded when, after a brief gentler climb, you will reach a clearing at altitude. From here, Rifugio Resegone is close.
Upon arriving at the refuge, in the Croci-Pradosdino area, you will find the perfect place to recharge. The refuge’s terrace offers an unparalleled view of the valley below. It is the ideal spot to relax, enjoy a good meal, and share the experience with other hikers.
A detour to Passo del Palio
If you still have energy and want to explore further, you can continue for another 2 kilometers to Palio pass. From there, you will enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view that encompasses the entire surrounding region.
Return to Brumano
After spending time at the refuge, or possibly at Passo del Palio, you can return to Brumano by following the same trail you took on the way up.
The descent will certainly be easier, allowing you to relive the landscapes that accompanied you earlier, closing a day filled with emotions and natural beauty in the mountains of Bergamo.
