You will keep going south along the Chiese river, slightly downhill. Watch as the outreaches of Brescia's Prealps make room for the Po Valley.

Around Masserina, a crossroads on the right side will give you the chance to go towards Brescia, while the main itinerary goes on southward amid cultivated fields, going back and forth near the Chiese river from time to time. You can go uphill to the historic center of Calcinato, once there you can see upon the road you have traveled and the one ahead. 
Just ahead, another elevation on the left side will let you know that you arrived in Montichiari.

It has always been considered an important area thanks to its dominant position over the surrounding plains. It seemed like it was a poing of reciprocal trade and influence between Celts and Etruscans before the coming of the Romans. This stage may be short but you will find at Montichiari one of the main Italian cycle tracks if you wish to experience the thrill biking safely at full speed. Alternatively, take all the time necessary to get to know the city, exploring the hillside zone, where the Church of San Pancrazio can be found.
