Embark on an itinerary with more than 1000 meters of elevation gain, which steadily ascends without sharp inclines and offers stunning panoramic views throughout the journey. Particularly scenic is the section that runs along Strada Costa Alpe, where there are several rest areas.

From Varzi (400 m), follow the uphill path to Cascina Momarone (2.1 km, 569 m), then continue on the carriage road, crossing Rosara until you reach Pietragavina (5.8 km, 735 m).

Follow SP 68 to quickly reach Santa Cristina (7.5 km, 738 m), where the beautiful panoramic road of Costa d’Alpe begins, which should be followed for a long stretch until you reach Monte Alpe (13.7 km, 1240 m).

A short descent leads to Passo delle Tre Strade (15.7 km, 1101 m), before starting the final uphill stretch to the summit of Monte Penice (18.4 km, 1440 m).
