Torre d'Oglio
A barge bridge full of charm, which has left an indelible mark on the territory's history.
Tore d'Oglio is a hamlet of Marcaria, located near the confluence of the Oglio and Po rivers. The name originates from a tower not far from where the barge bridge is now located.
The latter is a road bridge of boats that connects San Matteo delle Chiaviche and Cesole, built in 1926 and repaired and restored several times. The barge bridge of Torre d'Oglio represents a cultural heritage that embodies the charm of this region. It has captivated numerous artists over time, including director Bernardo Bertolucci, who chose this location as the backdrop for his famous film "Novecento”. Its unique aura has also served as a setting for other cinematic works, such as Luciano Ligabue's "Radiofreccia," "I promessi sposi," and "Don Camillo," where Terence Hill crosses the bridge on an enduro motorcycle. Pasquale Festa Campanile's film "Cara sposa" also showcased the bridge and in its surroundings.
