Located in the picturesque Gleno valley in the province of Bergamo, this alpine lake offers an authentic experience for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the unspoilt beauty of nature.      Lake Gleno is an artificial lake whose history is marked by a tragic event in 1923, when the banks of the dam built to generate electricity collapsed and the resulting flood was devastating.  The hamlet of Gleno and the nearby Villa dam were submerged by water and mud, causing extensive damage and the death of as many as 356 people.  After the accident, the Gleno reservoir was never rebuilt, and the surrounding area was abandoned.  Nature has gradually reclaimed the area, and now Laghetto del Gleno is a tourist destination for hikers and those wishing to explore the area and learn about its history.  Lake Gleno is an ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding nature.
