Discovering Pordenone

Prosegue il percorso condiviso con le città di Piacenza e Pordenone

Discovering Pordenone, this is the name of the project shared (through a joint Agreement) with Piacenza and Pordenone.

The character and the works of a great artist, Giovanni Antonio de' Sacchis called il Pordenone, who is not only a connection among Cremona, Piacenza and Pordenone, but an important element of cultural and tourist enhancement for the territories that host his works.

Pordenone, who was called “pictor modernus”, is considered the most important painter of the 16th Century from Friuli and one of the main Italian painters. He was extremely talented and he had a great personality in painting interpretation. Thanks to these characteristics, he could leave some of his art works in different villages scattered all around Friuli. His innovative artistic style is well represented by the great cycle of the Stories of the Passion, painted between 1520 and 1522 in Cremona’s Cathedral. From 1530 to 1535, he also painted a series of wonderful scenes in the church Santa Maria di Campagna in Piacenza.
