The Palestro Battle of May 31st 1859: one of the most legendary battles of the Second War of Italian Independence, fought by the Franco-Piemontese army led by Vittorio Emanuele II, who, overtaken the Sesia, prevailed on Austrians. Therefore, the charnel house is dedicated to the battle preserving the remains of the falls. It was designed by the architect Giuseppe Sommaruga, the biggest representative of liberty Lombardo created at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera.RB
