Associazione Guide Turistiche “Il Ghirlo”
The tourist guides’ association “Il Ghirlo” was born in 2000 in Crema and it includes some professional tourist guides from Cremona and Lodi. The founders are Monica Alchieri (archaeologist and teacher), Silvia Merico (expert in history of art and teacher), Annunziata Miscioscia (expert in history of art), Monica Scorsetti (expert in history of art, archivist and teacher), and, since 2008, Renzo Colliva (expert in history of art and teacher).
The association organizes, with passion and expertise, guided tours and didactic paths to discover some places in Lombardy that are extremely important because of their monuments (castles, fortresses, churches, palaces and villas), Museums (Town’s Musem in Cremona, Violin’s Museum, Printing Museum in Soncino and Lodi) and natural characteristics (rivers, fountains). Some of these places have been used as cinema sets for very famous movies (Ladyhawke, Call me by your name).
The activities are organized in the following territories:
Cremona and its province (Crema, Casalmaggiore, Castelleone, Palazzo Pignano, Pandino, Pizzighettone, Soncino, Rivolta d’Adda)
Lodi and its province.
Curiosities: the name of the association derives from an ancient corner of Crema called “Ghirlo” which corresponds to the current Cavour Street and to a part of Matteotti Street.
