Immerse yourself online in art in Lombardy

The art of Lombardy is online on websites, catalogs and virtual exhibitions, videos and apps of museums and cities: choose the virtual path you prefer in Milan, Monza, Bergamo, Brescia, Como and Mantua.

Visiting a museum in person, admiring paintings and sculptures, spending an afternoon at an exhibition, experiencing the thrill of getting to know the creative work of an artist live, attending a fair where admiring artifacts from different cultures and countries is priceless.

But at a time when activities and programs are necessarily suspended to deal with the health emergency, why give up completely on such a pleasant and nourishing experience for the mind? Why not continue to visit, at least virtually, the unique beauties and cultural sites of Lombardy?

Archives and entire digital collections, online tours of cities and museums, 360° photographic reviews of works and monuments, even botanical gardens in Lombardy: all this can be seen from the sofa at home. Make yourself comfortable: here are some tips on the visits that you cannot miss this winter!

Milan and surroundings: from an online tour of the city to the Reggia di Monza Park
On the website sponsored by the Municipality Yes Milano, which promotes the metropolitan city, the online activities proposed are many. Among them, all interesting, the virtual tour of Milan with virtual visits of the Duomo, Castello Sforzesco, Teatro alla Scala, Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio and various Milanese monuments. Not to be missed are the virtual tours of the Milanese museums. None are missing: from the Last Supper to the GAM, from the Museo del Novecento to the Mudec, from the Prada Foundation to the Triennale…

A particularly interesting initiative is that of the Pinacoteca di Brera which, through the online platform BreraPlus +, enriches its cultural heritage with special events in live streaming, multimedia content, videos and constantly updated insights.

If, on the other hand, what you want is an immersion, at least virtual, in nature, know that the botanical and landscape collection of the Park of Monza has rightfully entered the virtual gallery of the Royal Palace of Monza. The Villa Reale and Parco di Monza Consortium, with the Reggia Monza App, accompany visitors from home to discover all the secrets of the Park, Gardens and Villa in 6 interactive paths that are 35 km long!

Bergamo, with the App at the Carrara Academy
In Bergamo, the Carrara Academy boasts a splendid permanent collection of paintings, from the Renaissance to the late nineteenth century. It is temporarily closed, but its masterpieces are on display in the beautiful online catalog and on the La Carrara App. Downloadable for free, the App offers an interactive experience with customizable paths, you can create an avatar, choose your favorite works, share them with other virtual visitors and also on the social pages of the Academy.

Como online, at your home: between art and nature
Como does not stop during this complex period, but relaunches, with online initiatives of great interest, proposals from associations and local authorities promoted by the Municipality on Smart Como-La città a casa tua as well as on social networks Facebook and Youtube. You are really spoiled for choice: you can discover the secrets and rooms of the Paolo Giovio Archaeological Museum in the digital tour of Palazzo Giovio, enjoy the works of the Civic Art Gallery of Como in the digital tour of Palazzo Volpi, explore the rooms of both and discover the magnificent collections on video.

In Brescia, inside the Museum of Santa Giulia
Brescia Museums Foundation - which manages the Museum of Santa Giulia, the Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery, the Brescia Castle Museums, the Brescia Romana Archaeological Park, all currently closed - offers in particular the possibility of virtually visiting part of the Lombard monastic complex dating back to 753 AD, seat of the “City Museum”.
